In an interview with Times now Editors Navika Kumar and Rahul Shiv Shankar PM Modi admitted that alliance with PDP was the need of the hour and the two parties were like 'Oil' and 'Water' therefore the combination of the two amounted to mahamilavat which could not last long.
Explaining the sequence of events which led to the alliance PM Modi explained that the fractured mandate thrown by the assembly left BJP with no option but to ally with PDP. He also said that until former CM Mufti Sayeed was alive, the focus of the alliance was development of the state and all the developmental works such as construction of Roads, Schools, Hospitals etc. picked up pace but the unfortunately Mufti Sayeed expired.
After the death of Mufti Sayeed, since Mehbooba Mufti was in dilemma, the assembly remained in suspended animation but he said that there would have been resistance all across the nation if the assembly was kept in suspended animation. So we went ahead with coalition once again.
However, Mehbooba Mufti was adamant that Panchayat elections should not be held in the state, so the party had to rethink about the coalition as more funds could directly go to state if Local Body and Panchayat elections were conducted. This became the major bone of contention between two parties which eventually led to BJP pulling out of the Coalition.
PM Modi also said that he will give "Hitting Touch" and not healing touch to separatists and terrorists.
